Foraying Beyond Pest Prevention and Pest Monitoring: At Giridhar Pai Associates (GPA), our mission goes beyond simply providing pest prevention and monitoring products across Asia. We believe that professional education is the key to steering the industry toward sustainable pest management solutions. That’s why we’ve embarked on a new journey: to make essential industry knowledge more accessible to professionals throughout the region.

Spreading Knowledge starting with PCT Field Guides

In October 2024, we took a significant step by becoming a distributor for the United States of America’s GIE Media’s PCT Field Guides. Since then, we’ve seen incredible success in bringing these high-quality resources to pest management professionals (PMPs) across Asia.

Positive Reception in India: Numerous PMPs in India have embraced the PCT Field Guide set that comprise of the following six books.

  • The PCT Field Guide for the Management of Structure-Infesting Cockroaches
  • PCT Field Guide – Management of Structure-Infesting Beetles – Volume I: Hide and Carpet Beetles, Wood-Boring Beetles
  • PCT Field Guide – Management of Structure Infesting Flies
  • The PCT Bird Management Field Guide
  • PCT Technician’s Handbook
  • PCT Guide to Commercial Pest Management

They consistently praise the publications for their comprehensive information and detailed images

Expanding the Supply of PCT Field Guides Across Asia: Our reach quickly grew beyond India. In early 2025, we supplied the guides to Hayleys Agricultural Holdings in Sri Lanka and PT Kemika Karya Pratama for PMPs in Indonesia.

PCT Field Guide Sale Success in the Philippines: In July 2025, we partnered with LEADS Environmental Health Products Corporation in the Philippines. Their team successfully promoted the guides on social media and showcased them at the FAOPMA Pest Summit 2025 in Penang, Malaysia, reaching PMPs from 25 countries.

In less than a year, GPA has successfully supplied the PCT Field Guides to PMPs in India, Maldives, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, and the Philippines, proving the strong demand for quality pest control industry educational materials in the region.

What’s Next? Expanding Our Library of Pest Control Text Books

While the PCT Field Guides have been a tremendous success, we recognize that there is a limited institutional effort to help Asian PMPs easily acquire leading pest control textbooks from the United States. To address this, GPA is now planning to introduce other leading industry textbooks to Asia.

The “Bible” of the Industry: Mallis Handbook of Pest Control

The Mallis Handbook of Pest Control has been a cornerstone of the industry for decades, earning it the moniker “The Bible of the Industry.”  Arnold Mallis authored the first edition that was published in 1945. What makes the Mallis Handbook of Pest Control so popular is its comprehensive and practical approach to pest management. The handbook is known for its detailed chapters on the behaviour, life history, and control of household and structural pests. It is written in an easy-to-understand style, making it a crucial resource for both seasoned professionals and those new to the field of structural pest control. For each new edition, the publisher GIE Media Inc. updates it with the latest scientific research, control methodologies, and environmental considerations, featuring extensive photographs and illustrations that are invaluable for pest identification and treatment planning.

The Scientific Standard: Truman’s Scientific Guide to Pest Management Operations

Purdue University originally published the Truman’s Scientific Guide to Pest Management Operations, a highly respected textbook that provides a deep, scientific understanding of the pest control industry. Dr. Gary W. Bennett, Dr. John M. Owens, and Dr. Robert M. Corrigan co-authored the first edition published in 1988. The Truman’s Scientific Guide to Pest Management Operations guide is a comprehensive resource that serves as a textbook for professional training and certification. It combines basic scientific information with practical, effective solutions for a wide range of urban and industrial pest problems. Its popularity stems from its academic rigor, making it a go-to reference for pest management professionals seeking to enhance their knowledge and for students enrolled in professional pest management courses. The guide’s focus on integrating scientific principles with practical application ensures that it remains an essential tool for advancing pest management practices.

The Truman’s Guide is the presecribed textbook for the Purdue University Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Courses: Food Plant IPM and Advanced Level Urban and Industrial IPM  which are offered online and through correspondence.

Why must PMPs order text control books through GPA: GPA bulk imports different leading pest control industry textbooks from the United States of America through its association with the publishers.  Using its logistics partners GPA imports, dispatches domestically and exports pest control industry textbooks to its re-sellers and customers.

The cost of an individual importing a book like the Truman’s Guide is very high as the international shipping costs US$94 in addition to the book’s cost of US$132 (both prices as of August 2025).  By ordering the Truman’s Guide from GPA, Indian customers can order by paying in Indian rupees and avoid the high shipping costs.

Asian distributors who are resellers of GPA’s products have the flexibility of the quantity of books they order and get faster turnaround of their orders through GPA’s logistics partners.

Availability of the above books will empower more Asian PMPs to build their professional qualifications by completing online courses and advancing their careers.  If you are interested in ordering the PCT Field Guides, go through its listing on our webpage and order it through our Order form.

August 2025 update: The Mallis Handbook of Pest Control is in revision and currently not available.  As per our information, it will be launched in 2026.  Truman’s Scientific Guide will be available from GPA from October 2025 onwards.  PCT Field Guides are available with GPA.
