(Pestroniks) and Giridhar Pai Associates (GPA)—came together to launch something truly revolutionary: the FLYght One, India’s first Made-in-India UV LED Insect Light Trap. Chapter 1: The Genesis of an Idea – Developing the FLYght One in a Global Pandemic
The story of the FLYght One begins not in a boardroom, but in a laboratory in late 2019. The Pestroniks team was already deeply involved in research and development, perfecting a groundbreaking technology centred around their patented bio-Visual Enhancer (bio-VE+) insert. This technology, inspired by the natural world, was designed to be more effective and energy-efficient than any other product on the market.
Just as the prototype of the FLYght One arrived in March 2020, the world shut down. The COVID-19 lockdown in India posed immense challenges, including supply chain disruptions, manufacturing delays, and general uncertainty in doing business. Despite these hurdles, the Pestroniks team was resolute, and perseverance paid off, resulting in the first batch of FLYght One traps being ready by June 2020.
On July 2, 2020, a small group of eight pest management professionals logged into a virtual meeting for what was a truly historic event.

Pioneering UV LED Technology: While some competitors were still using outdated UV LED tubes, the FLYght One was built with state-of-the-art UV LEDs. Our choice of UV LEDs was deliberate, ensuring superior performance, longevity, and durability.
Unmatched Energy Efficiency: The FLYght One’s design required fewer LEDs than competing models, leading to the lowest power consumption in its class. The low power consumption of FLYght Traps offered significant savings for businesses and a more sustainable solution for the planet.
The Power of Bio-VE+ Technology: At the core of the FLYght One’s innovation was the patented bio-VE+ insert. Rather than pointing the LEDs directly at the trap exteriors like most fly catchers do, Pestroniks engineers cleverly positioned them to face the rear, activating the bio-VE+ insert. Bio-VE+ inserts emit a unique combination of UV and blue light when exposed to UV light, proven to be far more attractive to houseflies than a single UV wavelength from a UV LED.
A Unique Entry System: The FLYght One was the first and remains the only UV LED ILT to use a series of precisely designed holes (originally round, now hexagonal) to facilitate housefly entry. The simple yet effective design element of hexagonal entry holes has improved trapping efficiency, as seen in fly catch tests of FLYght Traps.

The journey didn’t end with the launch of the FLYght One. Our first product’s success was just the beginning. The pandemic-era launch resulted in slow initial sales, but our commitment to quality and customer service ensured steady growth. We started with our first order in September 2020 and have seen sales volumes increase year after year.

The FLYght Duo (2021): A year after the FLYght One’s launch, we introduced the FLYght Duo. Recognising the need for a sleeker, more stylish trap for consumer-facing environments, we designed the FLYght Duo with a stylish aluminium body that weighs just 1.75 kg. With its sleek appearance and robust performance, the FLYght Duo has become a leading choice in India for establishments such as retail stores, hospitals, hotels, movie theatres, and airport lounges, where aesthetics are as important as functionality. The hexagonal holes on its front panel give the FLYght Duo a modern look while ensuring optimal trapping.

The Re-engineered FLYght One (2023): We believe in continuous improvement. In 2023, we redesigned the FLYght One to enhance its performance and user experience. The colour was changed from white to a more discreet black, and the glueboard placement was improved to eliminate the need for cutting universal glueboards. The redesign solidified the FLYght One’s position as the go-to solution for industrial settings where performance and durability are the top priorities.

The FLYght Deco (2025): To complete our range, we launched the FLYght Deco uplighter in March 2025 in Bangalore. Designed for small, discreet spaces such as cafes, bakeries, restaurants, and office receptions, the FLYght Deco is the perfect blend of style and substance. With just four 1W UV LEDs and a custom-sized glueboard, it fits seamlessly into any décor, proving that effective pest control can also be elegant.
