Bringing the Eleventh Edition of the Mallis Handbook of Pest Control to Asia: A Landmark Journey

GPA – Asia’s only distributor of PCT Field Guide Books:

Since October 2024, Giridhar Pai Associates LLP (GPA) has proudly served as a leading distributor of Pest Control Technology (PCT) Field Guides in Asia, empowering pest management professionals (PMPs) with trusted educational resources.

GPA’s successful sales of the PCT Fly, Beetle, and Cockroach Guides, the PCT Technician Handbook, and the PCT Commercial Pest Management Guide have made a significant impact across the region.

Throughout 2024 and 2025, PMPs in India, the Maldives, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, and the Philippines have benefited from purchasing these PCT Field Guides through GPA.

GPA’s plan for launching Mallis Handbook of Pest Control in Asia:

Recognising the need to bring the industry’s premier reference to Asia, GPA set out to make the Eleventh Edition of the iconic Mallis Handbook of Pest Control available to PMPs in the region.

In pursuit of this goal, I maintained regular communication with the PCT sales department regarding the highly anticipated 11th edition of the Mallis Handbook.

By 2025, even second-hand copies of the 10th edition, published by GIE Media in 2011, had become difficult to obtain.  The 14-year gap between editions only heightened demand, making previous editions rare and expensive.

GPA’s first import of 12 copies of the Mallis Handbook:

In December 2025, GPA ordered twelve copies of the new Mallis Handbook, planning a launch for December 15.  Unfortunately, one of three boxes, containing five copies, went missing during transit and could not be recovered by the courier.

Undeterred, GPA placed another order for five additional copies in January 2026.  On January 19, GPA finally received its full order of twelve copies of the Eleventh Edition.

This first shipment made the Mallis Handbook more accessible to Asian PMPs, enabling them to obtain this essential reference locally and quickly.  At GPA, we firmly believe that every PMP and Pest Control Operator (PCO) should own the Mallis Handbook, the definitive encyclopaedia of the structural pest control industry.

The importance of the Mallis Handbook of Pest Control:

Despite the abundance of online information in today’s digital age, the Mallis Handbook stands out as the gold standard for practical, authoritative, and actionable pest control knowledge.  While the internet offers facts, only the Mallis Handbook delivers the accumulated wisdom and expertise of generations of industry leaders.

History of the 11th edition of the Mallis Handbook:

First published by Arnold Mallis in 1945 and now in its eleventh edition, the Handbook’s latest release in December 2025 marks a significant milestone after a fourteen-year wait.  This edition honours both the legacy of Arnold Mallis and the contributions of Editorial Director Stoy A. Hedges, who guided the 8th to 11th editions and sadly passed away in 2023, before the 11th edition was published.

Current editor Dan Moreland praises Stoy’s vision in assembling an elite team of 26 contributing authors under the technical direction of Dr Stan Cope.  The Eleventh Edition is a testament to years of diligent work, with contributions from Stoy Hedges (Editorial Director), Dan Moreland (Editor), Dr Stan Cope (Technical Director), Andrea Vagas and Ana Mathers (Art Directors), and Michelle Wisniewski (Production Manager).

The team’s commitment, especially through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, was critical in bringing this industry cornerstone to fruition.

The edition is also dedicated to the memory of Gene White, a valued contributor who passed away in 2022.

This comprehensive edition features 24 chapters over 1,351 pages, presented in a large, easy-to-read format and weighing 3.8 kg.  It includes a 48-page colour pest identification guide spanning 24 pest categories, making it an indispensable reference with nearly 1,400 pages.  The hardbound format now offers larger, two-column text for enhanced readability.

GPA’s enablement of Asian PMPs through the Mallis Handbook:

Thanks to GPA’s efforts, Asian PMPs can now enrich their professional libraries with a resource that is more than just a book: a university of pest control knowledge and a true industry heirloom.

We strongly encourage every Asian PMP to secure a copy of the Eleventh Edition of the Mallis Handbook of Pest Control.  Owning this Handbook elevates pest management expertise and represents a long-term investment in professional success.

The first ten Indian PMPs who own the 11th edition of the Mallis Handbook:

By February 17, 2026, GPA had completely sold out of the Mallis Handbook, reflecting the overwhelming response from the pest control community in less than a month.  The enthusiasm shown by India’s pest control sector for the Eleventh Edition has been especially gratifying.

Despite unexpected setbacks, such as the missing shipment box, the patience and support of Indian PMPs have been remarkable.  It is rewarding to witness such a warm reception for this industry-defining reference.
