Advent of the Trece Storgard Quick Change Dome Trap: About two decades after the launch of the Dome Trap, Trece introduced the Quick-Change (QC) Dome Trap by modifying the trap design and changing the mode of using the pheromone and kairomone inside the trap.
The QC Dome Trap may resemble the old one on the surface, but a closer look reveals its innovative design. Unlike its predecessor, the QC Dome utilizes lure trays instead of pheromone lures and food attractant kairomone oil.
Each QC lure tray contains a pheromone lure, kairomone, and oil attractant, and it snugly fits into the QC Dome. When the lure tray has run its course, users remove the foil cover on a new one and fit it into the QC Dome using the trap’s SNUGFIT feature. The lure tray attracts insects and acts as a collection tray for them.
Another highlight of the Quick-Change Dome is the availability of an Ultra-Combi lure tray designed to target up to thirty insect species using a combination of three common stored-product beetle pest pheromones and a broad-spectrum kairomone.
Thanks to the Ultra-combi lure, Storgard QC Dome Trap users have the flexibility to monitor multiple stored product beetle pests in a single trap.

How are the old Dome and new QC Dome similar? Both traps are dome-shaped and rely on pheromones and kairomones for monitoring stored product beetle pests. In both traps, the kairomone food attractant oil attracts and traps the target pests.
How are the old Dome and new QC Dome different? The old Dome and new QC Dome are different in several features like we have shared below.
Pheromone Lure versus lure tray: The old Dome relied on pheromone lures that a user had to fix inside the Dome cover. The QC Dome, in contrast, uses a pheromone lure tray with a pre-fixed pheromone. A user only needs to snugly fit the lure tray inside the dome cover to activate the trap and attract and trap target pests.
Kairomone: The old Dome relied on a kairomone food attractant oil vial, from which the user had to dispense oil periodically in the trap reservoir. In contrast, the QC Dome’s lure tray contains two kairomones, including the food attractant oil. As the lure tray already contains two kairomones that will last up to eight weeks, users of the QC Dome don’t need to add kairomones to the lure tray.
Multi-species pheromone lure: The old Dome could accommodate a maximum of three pheromone lures and attract three target pest species. The QC Dome is usable with an Ultra Combi (UC) pheromone lure that attracts thirty different beetles through a combination of three pheromone lures and two kairomones.
Time and cost: The time required to set up, maintain and replenish the old Dome Trap is more, whereas the QC Dome’s Snugfit technology makes it quicker to set up, maintain and reactivate (by lure tray change). The price of the old Dome and pheromone lures is higher than that of the QC Dome and lure trays.
